Stoke Under 10's Win Prima Tiger Cup Congratulations to Stoke RUFC Under 10's who won the Prima Tigers Cup at Welford Road on Saturday 3rd March. In front of an impressive crowd, the young lads played the game before Tigers took on Harlequins and beat Kesteven RFC to bring the cup to Staffordshire for the very first time. A huge congratulations to everyone for their hard work and excellent win! To read more and see pictures click here County Air Ambulance Thank you to everbody who donated money on the gate for the Stoke v Longton County Cup Quarter Final, despite a disappointing result for Stoke, we managed to raise £392.62 for the County Air Ambulance! Well Done! Don Lee On Wednesday 4th January 2006 Don Lee passed away after a long illness. Don was a dedicated supporter of the club, to the point of watching training!. The club marked his passing with a minute's silence on Saturday 7th January. Don was reluctant to mention his illness as he wanted it not to dominate conversation so his absence was noted but to many unexplained. Our condolences go to Laura, Tim and Naomi. Harry Chesters Harry Chesters one of the greatest characters at Stoke RUFC sadly passed a way on a bus trip on Saturday 17th September Promises Auction The Stoke RUFC juniour section organised a very successful Promises Auction on Saturday 12th November New Kit for Stoke Some of you may know that the kit for next season will be changing Club Runs Dry On Thursday 26th of May 2005 Stoke -on-Trent RUFC suffered one of the worst fates that can ever befall a Rugby Club - It ran dry. 2005 AGM The 2005 AGM, held on Thursday 9th June 2005 at the clubhouse, was a quiet night.
May Ball 2005 On Friday 13th May, 250 guests sat down to enjoy a 4 course meal and entertainment from guest speaker Peter Brown a former Crown Prosecutor from Wales
Players Dinner 2005 On Friday 6th May, 65 players, guests and alickadoos sat down for the club's annual Players Dinner and Awards Evening.
Stoke win Burton 7's On Monday 11th April, Stoke won the Burton 7's competition. Success for Juniors at Festival In county Junior Competitions the following sides have had success... County Cup Brian Ellis received a couple of letters thanking all who helped to make the County Cup Final run smoothly and successfully on Sunday 17th April: Club Refurbishment With the £80,000 funding secured as a loan from the RFU work is being planned for a complete refurbishment of the changing room area.
James Hall & Ben Robson for England The club is very proud to announce that James Hall has been selected to play for England Colleges against Welsh Colleges. Stoke Colts Stoke Colts bowed out of the National Colts Cup Plate competition by drawing 15-15 with Dudley Kingswinford at Hartwell Lane on Sunday 12th December 2004. Welsh Exiles play at Hartwell The club hosted a couple of representative matches on Sunday 5th December, kick off 14:00.
Academy plays Harlequins On the 4th September 2004 Stoke Academy XV faced Harlequins Academy at The Stoop Memorial Ground. Rally Driver As many of you will know that the club makes a real thing about the development of young people. However in this case it appears that things may have gone too far. 2004 AGM and EGM The AGM was a fairly quiet affair. By far the most significant event was that two of the club excutive positions holders retired.
Coaching Co-ordinator After a busy close-season for the Playing committee they are now able to reveal some of the changes on the playing side for the forthcoming (2004-5). On the coaching front Jeremy Edwards has taken on the role of coaching co-ordinator, with a view to establishing a consistent approach to coaching for senior, colts, junior and mini players.
Summer Ball 2004 This years Summer Ball 2004 was held in a marquee at the club on Friday 21st May 2004 The traditional four course meal, followed by entertainment provided by Dave Gunson aka "The Air Traffic Controller" and the "Elvis Presley Experience" was once again an outstanding success. click here for photographs Players Dinner This years Player Dinner took place in the clubhouse on Friday 14th May. The dining room was full as the players and a sprinkling of Alickadoos sat down to an excellent meal. Once the meal was complete and the tables cleared the speeches began. Grand Prize Draw In place of the Christmas Raffle the club organised a Grand Prize draw. The first prize is a fortnight's holiday in Florida for 2 people. Included in the prize is a villa less than 5 miles from Disney and return airline tickets. The draw took place on Saturday 20th March 2004 No posts Yes we have no posts" - well at least on our 1st XV pitch. In the blustery (near gale force) weather on night of Saturday 7th February morning of 8th February we had one post snap and 2 of the others showed damage which suggested they would fall down if we didn't take them down.
World Cup Final - 22 November 2003 On Saturday 22nd November, a particularly long day at the club for some, we saw England beat Australia in the World Cup Final on a Big Screen TV, followed by a lunch for those who watched. Open Day - 19th October 2003 On Sunday 19th October kicking-off at 10.30, Stoke Rugby Club hosted an open day for Mini/Junior players with a view to encouraging as many young players as possible to get involved in Rugby. This was Stoke's contribution to the County wide open day organised by the Staffordshire RDO, Nic Scott. Radio Mast at Hartwell On Wednesday 13th August planning permission was granted for a radio mast to be erected at Hartwell. Vodafone and Stoke RUFC have agreed to a 15 year deal, subject to a 3 year break clause which will generate £3,000 per annum for the club New Chairman at Stoke After many years as firstly Secretary and more latterly Chairman Steve Beck stepped down as one of the leading officials of the club at the 2003 AGM. Jim Allcock has replaced Steve as Chairman with Steve moving to take an active roll in Jim's former position on the Development Committee
